This Heavy Duty Bridge style gantry welding machine is friction driven, travelling the length of the beam that is going to be welded. The gantry is powered by a dual driven variable frequency controller and includes two powered travel carriages mounted on the main beam of the gantry; one of these carriages can be used for traverse welds. Clearance under the main beam is 8 ft with the track spaced at 12 ft centres. Clearance between the legs is approximately 11ft. Carriages are approximately 24” wide providing a large “window” of clearance.
The foot print of the gantry is currently at 16 ft wide x 10 ft deep. The effective travel of the powered carriage is approximately 8 ft. The gantry travels up to 80 ft using two synchronized drives and runs on solid steel wheels that are used to move the gantry along the 90 ft length of friction type railroad track. Wheels on one side will be double flanged with flat wheels on the opposite side. The truck travel speed ranges from approximately 6 to 200 I.P.M. The gantry will easily accommodate all the welding equipment, flux recovery systems and tracking system.
Each carriage includes a 60” vertical boom and is used to raise and lower the weld torch to and from the weld joint. Each carriage is also equipped with an Electronic Seam Tracker having 10” of vertical and horizontal travel.
The system has the integration of the Lincoln Twin wire submerged arc welding equipment consisting of two (2) welding heads and two (2) Lincoln 1200 amp power sources. The system also includes two HP Flux Recovery Systems, one for each weld torch and is used to reclaim the unused flux, again fully integrated.
