This Weld Lathe facilitates the welding process for circular work pieces. The lathe shown has a versatile bed capable of handling up to four rolls simultaneously.
A headstock on either end of the machine provides the primary rotation for single or dual sets of rolls. The intermediate-tailstock secures the first roll and is also able to translate the rotation to the second roll, which is chucked into a floating end-tailstock. All of the tailstocks manually slide along the length of the bed allowing easy set up for different lengths of rolls. The main frame sitting above the bed houses two welding carriages, which are easily operated with a touch-screen HMI. Each carriage is equipped with SAW welding head, oscillator and flux recovery system. The touch-screen HMI also has the capability of storing repeatable weld recipes. Housed underneath the lathe bed is a conveyor which catches the slag and transports it to a tote for recycling.
